How Accountants Can Guide Startups Through SEIS & EIS with Oriel IPO

Empowering Accountants to Unlock SEIS & EIS Success

Tax reliefs can feel like a maze. Accountants hold the map. Advising founders on SEIS (Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme) and EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) is vital for guiding clients towards tax-efficient routes to startup capital UK. You know the drill—complex eligibility rules, strict timeframes, piles of paperwork. Yet every box ticked translates to pounds saved, investor confidence gained and smoother funding rounds.

In this post, you’ll discover practical ways to steer startups through SEIS & EIS, leverage Oriel IPO’s commission-free marketplace, and bolster your advisory offering. From compliance checklists to curated deal flows, we cover it all. Ready to streamline your clients’ route to startup capital UK? Discover how startup capital UK investment is revolutionised by Oriel IPO

Why SEIS and EIS Matter for Startups and Investors

Navigating early-stage funding without tax relief is like paddling upstream. SEIS and EIS ease that journey. They’re government schemes designed to make angel investment more attractive. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Overview of SEIS

  • Designed for very early-stage startups.
  • Investors receive up to 50% income tax relief on investments up to £100,000 per tax year.
  • Capital gains on disposal can be exempt under qualifying conditions.

Overview of EIS

  • Ideal for growth-stage businesses raising larger rounds.
  • Offers up to 30% income tax relief for investments up to £1 million annually (or £2 million if certain conditions apply).
  • Deferral of capital gains tax on gains from other assets.

Key Tax Reliefs and Incentives

  • Loss relief: offset losses against income.
  • Capital gains exemption: investors may pay zero CGT on disposal proceeds held for at least three years.
  • Carry back relief: apply relief to previous tax year.

For accountants, mastering SEIS & EIS is about knowing how to align reliefs with client goals. It’s not just ticking HMRC boxes, it’s unlocking funds for founders and investors seeking startup capital UK in a tax-savvy way.

The Accountant’s Role in Navigating SEIS & EIS

You’re the trusted adviser. Clients look to you for clarity on complex regulations. Here’s where you can add value:

  • Pre-application guidance
Advise on qualifying activities, eligibility criteria and company structure. Early validation prevents costly refusals.

  • Compliance and documentation
Guide business owners through Form SEIS1/EIS1 submissions. Ensure annual compliance (EIS3s, SEIS3s) is met promptly.

  • Maximising client benefits
Recommend optimal share classes, tranche investments, and use of carry-back relief to sweeten investor terms.

Your strategic input can secure the vital startup capital UK that fuels growth. And when it comes to sourcing those investor funds, Oriel IPO’s marketplace is a game-changer.
