Understanding SEIS and EIS Schemes

Before we delve deeper, let’s clarify the basics. Both SEIS (Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme) and EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) are government initiatives to boost startup funding in the UK. They offer generous tax reliefs for investors—up to 50% in SEIS and 30% in EIS—making early-stage ventures far more attractive.

  • SEIS targets very early startups.
  • EIS covers slightly more mature businesses.
  • Both require strict compliance: approvals, share certificates, annual returns.

A dedicated share scheme platform means all your SEIS and EIS paperwork lives in one spot. You get reminders for key deadlines, automated share valuation records, and a clear audit trail. No more panicking when year-end rush hits.

Key Challenges in Share Scheme Management

Even with generous tax reliefs, SEIS and EIS bring their own quirks:

  • Complex eligibility checks for each investor
  • Detailed record-keeping of share issuances
  • HMRC compliance forms (SEIS1, EIS1, and follow-up returns)
  • Valuation disputes and rounding errors
  • Communication headaches between founders, advisers, and investors

These manual tasks slow you down, eat into precious time, and risk costly mistakes. A reliable share scheme platform mitigates these pain points with built-in compliance workflows and centralised document storage.

How Oriel IPO’s Commission-Free Share Scheme Platform Solves These Challenges

Oriel IPO takes a fresh approach. Instead of charging hefty commissions on funds raised, they offer subscription plans tailored to your needs. Here’s how their share scheme platform helps:

  1. Centralised Equity Dashboard
See every share class, issuance date and investor detail at a glance. No more hunting through emails or spreadsheets.

  2. Automated Compliance Alerts
Get notified when HMRC forms are due. Auto-generate SEIS1 and EIS1 documents, ready for submission.

  3. Vetted Investment Opportunities
Startups are pre-screened for SEIS/EIS eligibility. Investors gain confidence knowing each pitch meets scheme criteria.

  4. Subscription-Based Pricing
Transparent monthly fees means no surprises. Keep more of your funding instead of paying percentage-based commissions.

  5. Educational Resources
Benefit from guides, webinars and expert insights on share plan management. Perfect for founders, accountants and tax advisers.
