Leveraging SEIS and EIS: Oriel IPO’s Guide to Funding Across the UK and EU via Northern Ireland

Funding Without Borders: A UK and EU Playbook

Imagine raising capital in London, then easily selling goods in Paris—no extra customs, no extra paperwork. That’s the power of Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework. You get tariff-free access to both the UK and EU single markets. For founders, that means a broader potential customer base. For investors, it means more growth opportunities.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to combine the UK’s SEIS (Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme) and EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) with Northern Ireland’s unique gateway. We’ll cover tax relief, regulatory alignment, cost benefits and the exact steps to list on Oriel IPO’s online investment marketplace. Ready to explore cross-border startup funding? Revolutionizing Investment Opportunities in the UK with cross-border startup funding is just a click away.

Understanding SEIS and EIS: Pillars of Early-Stage Investment

Early-stage startups often face two big hurdles: access to capital and convincing investors it’s worth the risk. SEIS and EIS tackle that by offering tax reliefs.

  • SEIS lets investors reclaim up to 50% of their investment on their income tax bill.
  • EIS offers 30% relief on investments up to £1 million a year, plus no Capital Gains Tax if you hold shares for three years.
  • Both schemes protect against downside risk with loss relief and deferral options.

How does this tie into cross-border startup funding? Simple. Investors love tax incentives. By listing on a platform that only features SEIS/EIS-eligible firms, you tap into a ready pool of angel investors hunting for tax-efficient deals. Oriel IPO vets each startup, so investors know they meet HMRC rules. That saves you hours on paperwork and due diligence.

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Up to 50% tax relief under SEIS
  • 30% relief and CGT exemption under EIS
  • Loss relief to cushion downside
  • Wider angel network through curated listings

Why Northern Ireland is Your Tariff-Free Gateway

Northern Ireland sits in a sweet spot. It’s part of the UK Customs Territory, so you enjoy UK trade deals (like the UK-Australia FTA). At the same time, it stays aligned with EU rules for goods. No customs declarations, no rules-of-origin certificates, no non-tariff barriers when shipping to Ireland or mainland Europe.

What Makes NI Unique?

  1. Tariff-Free Access
Sell goods into Great Britain and the EU single market without extra fees.
  2. Regulatory Alignment
Follow EU standards for goods; avoid dual certifications.
  3. Cost Efficiency
Operating costs are up to 57% less than London, even 69% less than San Francisco.
  4. Talent and Innovation
Two top universities, skilled engineers and thriving tech clusters—from fintech to AI.

This combination means your startup can manufacture in NI, fund in London, and serve customers in Berlin—all under one roof. That’s a textbook case of effective cross-border startup funding.

How Oriel IPO Simplifies Cross-Border Startup Funding

You get the benefits of SEIS, EIS and Northern Ireland’s market access. But how do you actually bring investors on board? That’s where Oriel IPO’s online investment marketplace shines.

  1. Commission-Free Model
No percentage cut of your funds. You pay a transparent subscription fee and keep more of what you raise.
  2. Curated, Vetted Opportunities
Every startup meets HMRC’s SEIS/EIS criteria before going live. Investors know they’re looking at compliant deals only.
  3. Educational Resources
Guides, webinars and one-pagers on SEIS, EIS and regulatory tips—so you never feel lost.
  4. Direct Angel Connections
The platform connects you with UK-based angel investors who specialise in early-stage rounds and tax-efficient investing.

By using Oriel IPO, you turn a tangled process into a four-step workflow: set up your Northern Ireland entity, complete a one-page listing, pitch investors, close the round. No guesswork, no hidden fees.

Halfway through your capital raise? Ready to scale into Europe? Get started now with Cross-border startup funding: revolutionizing investment opportunities in the UK.

Step-by-Step: Launching Your Cross-Border Fundraise via Northern Ireland

Follow these steps to combine SEIS/EIS with NI’s tariff-free gateway:

  1. Incorporate in Northern Ireland
Choose the right entity structure (usually a private limited company).
  2. Claim Advance Assurance
File for SEIS/EIS Advance Assurance with HMRC before fundraising.
  3. Create Your Oriel IPO Profile
Complete a concise listing, upload financial projections and share your pitch deck.
  4. Leverage Invest NI Support
Use their grants, recruitment help and networking events to strengthen your pitch.
  5. Go Live and Pitch
Launch on Oriel IPO’s marketplace. Your listing goes to vetted angel investors.
  6. Close and Onboard
Secure pledges, issue SEIS/EIS certificates, and watch the funding land in your account.

Each step unlocks a new dimension of cross-border startup funding. You’re not just raising money—you’re building a cross-market engine.
